Fucking lol at the Harry Potter clip.
The most mindblowing thing about prohibition is that they actually tried this in Russia.
What about how Temperance and Probation went hand in hand?
Such an interesting topic, I could leave a comment far too long. I guess what I find perhaps most disturbing is that the "tainted alcohol" is still VERY much in production. It's called "denatured alcohol" and is alcohol that is sold with deadly poisons added (generally just methanol), specifically for the purpose of "discouraging" drinking it (you'll be very discouraged once you're blind or dead). The reason is that liquor sale is controlled by the state, whereas SD alcohol is cheaper to purchase and can be bought practically anywhere.
prohibition is proof that legislation does not work.I would favor ending the illegal status of narcotics and treating addiction as a public health matter.Coercion is always heavy handed and rarely works
This is what happens when you allow women to vote. Thanks for creating organized crime ladies.
this video makes me thirsty for a beer.
the truth is america is a alcoholic whore that will die of alcohol poisoning
oh yeah and could everyone in the comment section stop bitching about marijuana
why Harry Potter?
Fun Fact: the prohibition also boosted America's love of fast cars. In order to transport booze and shine between states, drivers would modify ordinary fords and other cars to outrun the popo. This was the birth of car modification and even lead NASCAR and other forms of racing.
So as we can see prohibition causes more problems then it fixes. So why are we fighting a war on drugs. Obviously would should put but stuff like heroine on the streets but we could make self help clinics that provide the drugs as long as it's taken on site under a controlled environment like the one in Canada that is doing great work. prohibition makes drugs more dangerous then they already are. Take LSD for and example. LSD has never been proven to do harm to users but because it's illegal copy cat drugs like RC hit the underground market that can send you into psychosis and the only reason people take it is because they either think it's LSD or because it's a cheaper alternative. Instead of ruining life's and causing millions of preventable death. Why don't we try and fix the actual problem through state funded therapy and in a few decades we could see a significant drop in hard drug use. Also we need better more informative drug compression classes at schools so kids can learn the actual dangers of each drug. I know at my high school I had a health teacher that taught us so much important information. One of the biggest and most useful things I learned was intake control for alcohal. How many people know that a shot, a glass of wine, and a beer all have generally similar alcohal concentration levels? How many people know that after 8 drinks you are binge drinking? How many people know that 12 beverages can sometimes be all it takes to give you alcohal poisoning? imagine how many college students lives we could save just by teaching that information in high school.
It's horrible to watch the footage of them destroying bottles of whiskey.
Dumbledore was not a drunk LOL
The real #1 should have been that prohibition was directly responsible for organized crime getting organized in the first place.
lol funny, booze actually does destroy families
…
The reason the KKK supported prohibition is because the liquor industry run controlled by immigrants.
Funny thing how a lot of the bad things they said about alcohol are kinda true. It breaks up families? Yup. Bankrupt them? A little bit. IMO, the only good thing alcohol does is kill off stupid people. And help the economy.
4:29 lol
So… making alcohol was legal? If I was just using it for myself?
The US Government did not just poison industrial alcohol, they actually intentionally poisoned liquor intended for the black market killing hundreds in an effort to create a toxic tonic scare.
this series is becoming a little bit too much like the wmnews series!
in 30 years it would be legal for kids to purchase alcohol
Alcohol is still pretty taboo in the west compared to the east. In Japan, I can walk down the street drinking a beer and no one cares. Also, if we have a meeting at work, free beer while we listen to the CEO, who is also drinking beer.
Prohibicja????? no pojebało ich czy co????? wódki dajcie ludziom a nie wędki;D
wait did they seriously just call for a second prohibition.
I wish those hypocrite prohibitionist control freaks would ban alcohol again, I could make a lot of money!
this was so helpful thank you!
this reminds me of gun control a hell of a lot
Fun fact: Prohibition created Al Capone and Nascar. Because he now had a surplus of illegal goods to sell and needed cars that went faster than the police.
KKK was for prohibition? I bet some Klan's members drank privately in their homes. So what? Funny it was pushed by women asking the right to vote. Also being a teetotaler has NOTHING to do with bigotry. Guess who else hated booze? Vladimir Lenin was also a teetotaler while bringing the Communist revolution in Russia [a Vodka loving country], Adolf Hitler the Nazi leader & I was surprised to learn another teetotaler was none other than Che Guevara. And I am a PROUD teetotaler.
