Hm, you forgot the first Alien-film. Theres a person inside the monster in many of the scenes with the adult Alien.
I haven’t watched this yet. But I’m thinking The Thing(1982) will be on this list.

I am always for great practical effects. I actually have to disagree with your Number One choice. Hellraiser was great visually, I won't doubt that, but it was the lack, and the need for a better storyline.

Boris Karloffs "Frankenstein" has been like "THEE" poster boy for the entire horror film genre!!!!!! its the most legendary make up ever created!!!!!! not just for the horror genre & that time period but for every movie genre & even by todays standards no make up artist alive cud pull that off & make some ones face look that convincing that realistically detailed & THAT MEMORABLE!!!!! T hat make up is the definition of true art & it was the very first to give a actual face to horror films period!!!!! It has & it will continue to be remembered for as long as time goes on !!!!!!
