Kubrick's matrix consists out of 12 films not 16. Day of the flight, Flying padre and The Seafarers are short documentaries. And Spartacus was not written nor produced by him and thus is NOT part of his matrix, he merely directed it. Nothing against Spartacus but it doesn't contain any keys to the puzzle of Kubricks maze, all other 12 films do.
Do any of you know about the number #1 science-fiction novel in the world made by one of the most respected authors? You know, 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY? How the hell do you not know it's a novel?!
Edit: The screen play was being written by Kubrick and Clarke but they should have said it was being written by both of them.
He's also known for lengthy scenes of nothing happening at all. It was perfect for the feeling of cabin fever in The Shining and the loneliness of space. Awkward in Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb. Spielberg's AI featured lengthy scenes of nothing happening at all in honor of Kubrick.
