Read the starlog article about the first mummy and you'll find out they created a whole set of software to make the mummy.
Not a single movie that's on this, belong on this list…. Just the Scorpion King scene… that's it…. that sucked….
maybe Flash Gordon.
I think "Superman the movie" still looks quite good.
I don't agree with Tron or Superman. At all….
I would NOT say that the 1980s movies have dated AT ALL, because they were almost all PRACTICAL effects. And Tron holds up because the computer world is MEANT to look like that, all neon and glowing (if anything, Tron Legacy is the dull one). However, I would say all these 1990s CGI attempts failed, because they still looked wrong for the environments they were intended to portray, and they should've stuck with practical effects instead – but since Hollywood is LAZY, they wouldn't do that.
you can complain about CGI all you want, that doesn't change the fact that CGI is awesome. I swear people will bich about anything
Attack of the Clones aged much much worse than Phantom Menace to me
I'm sorry but I don't think anyone took Lawnmower Man as anything jaw jropping when it came out. That kind of CGI had existed since the mid 80s already. Terminator or Clash of the Titans should have been on here instead.
flash gordon had great music(queen)
Are you kidding me who is making this lists
Why that 1978 classic Superman film
Why is Flash Gordon on this list? You really don't understand this movie at all. Its effects were done this way on purpose for the most part as it was a call back to the serial movies of the 30's and 40's.
The Matrix is not on here….
Because it is STILL that awesome. ☺
Logan's Run, however, should have made this list.
This list isn't that old, the movie Deluge was the lst disaster movie, 1933. The effects were good then. Still a good movie,
If you like cyber world so much, see serial experiment lain, and find its fault?
Where's the original Power Rangers movie?
Hate to say it but without the touch up of the Special Editions the original Star Wars movies (especially the two sequels for some reason) were hard to watch. I could see through almost everything and there were 'halos' around every spaceship.
Watchmojo=trashmojo
Cocoon should be on this. Those aliens are laughable now
These movies FADED AWAY from our minds until they were rendered OBSOLETE!!! They were sentenced to…..DELEEEEEETION!!!
this list smh
Bullshit! Total Recall still looks great.
"flee from Hawkmen on a spacescooter", she says.
Shows Flash leading Hawkmen on a spacescooter.
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, that film has been ruined for me now as the scene with Neville falling of his broom, any time one of them is picked up by the troll, the troll itself, the scene where Harry flies down after catching Neville's Remembrall, just, ohjesus, so bad XD
I happen to LOVE the visuals in Flash Gordon despite their occasional clunkiness and artifice – the vibrant multi-colored alien sky, the lasers, the very eccentric and original design of the space crafts, costumes, and sets and the neat animated opening tittle & credits sequence, .. . they're all very unique and memorable and really suit the quirky humorous tone of the whole movie.
Inspector Gadget???
No Spy Kids 3D?
Spawn needs to be remade. In a dark rated R kind of way.
But Flash Gordon had the best sound ever: Queen. Flash! Ahaaaahhhh!
No way, Flash Gordan is incredible.
Hollow Man? Seriously? It does not belong on the list, not even as a mention.
True, "lost in Space" had some pretty bad CGI (that monkey f.e.). But it also had a lot of very good FX anc CGI. For example the spaceship's launch sequence was very well done. Also the little "space spider things" were done properly.
If anything was really bad, than it was that abrupt ending. I remember sitting in the cinema with my friends and when the screen turned black all of the sudden we all thought "okay, projector's gone"… and when the credits start rolling we we're just looking at each other like "WTF!?" lol
I lived in the 90's. "Virtuosity" was complete shite already when it came out.
It's true Jumanji's special effects haven't aged well, but at least the movie benefited from a very strong story and excellent performances, making it entertaining enough that you could easily overlook its technical weaknesses.
You left out Jim Carry's The Mask.
Tron was dope fuck yall
CLASH OF TITANS!!!!
virtuocity was an awesome movie. russell crowe was a great bad guy
tron and the old superman movies are unwatchable boring messes
total recall is awesome too
