''Self-defense'' martial arts styles are complete bullshit. When you're in a fight the most improtant thing is not defending yourself, but making sure the other guy can't or won't attack you anymore. You're gonna look real silly ''redirecting'' someone energy and shattering his wrist in a million theoretical pieces when the dude just double legs you and starts smashing you in the face or starts forcing you into an shoulder or armlock
for me I would rather choose aikido cause that's is more on defense..
agree and all style me likey heeheehee
I like how in almost every movie Bruce Lee was in he looks bat shit crazy XD..I miss Bruce.
karate
My goodness. Hapkido, Judo, Aikido, Karate, Whin Chun …really, what sort of list is this. I get martial arts and have a deep respect for all styles, but lest we forget they are arts, eastern acrobatics, ways of life, philosophy, fitness methods, meditation, pastimes and they are awesome….JUST NO !!!! NO, NO, NO. Learning to sprint, curl into a ball to protect vital organs and run or scream and wave your hands windmilling will be as effective, unless you are a fighter…… and that is a state on mind not a style.
These aren't martial arts styles, each "style" is an art.
I'm Japanese, but I'm sorry to say if Aikido is on this list, there's something wrong with this list.
YOu included Judo, but not Japanese Jiu Jitsu, which basically includes all of Judo combined with Karate, Ai Ki do and some own aspects of Hand to Hand combat, defense against weapons and other Things. I don´t want to crticise your list too hard, since it was still pretty good, but this doesn´t really make any sence. Also all of These martial arts are also used for fighting other martial artists, while Jiu Jitsu focuses on defending yourself against someone through surprising, using the persons weakspots and basically everything that Judo, Karate and Ai Ki do use. It should have been number 2!
It seem BJJ now has a rival
You lost me at Judo.
I'm horny
krav maga is the best
The Ip man movies are fucking awesome.
aikido is a joke , judo is way better !!!
best defense is a 9mm
Judo is not a martial art it's a combat sport developed from Jiu Jitsu.
Regardless of the little tweaks I'd make to this list, western boxing should have a spot
I do judo and ju jitsu
I would replace aikido for choy lay fut kung fu
In my opinion Wing Chun is the best for self defense, it's fast and classy.
MST
anyone because phantom wail here?
interesting they mention muay thai and show tony jaa ong bak….which is muay boran the real fighting art of thailand and a hell of a lot more vicious than the watered down version westerners know as muay thai for sport and money making.
I love wing Chun because it looks like you can take on a bunch of people at once
As a Krav Maga student I can say, Krav Maga is a really dirty martial art. It is nasty, but that is why I love it. And the Simpsons aren't exaggerating about the kick in the nuts)
Kalaripayattu
I love Krav, its so good
You f*ucking idi*ts forgot about Shaolin Kung Fu
on a serious note: Wing Chung is useless as fuck. no power in your punches with an open face and mid section. no offence to stop a Jiu-Jitsu players takedown.
For me the best is wing chun
