Hamlet was the name of Shakespeare's only son.
He died at age 11, and had a twin sister, Judith.
Why such love for Gibsons Hamlet? That one is horrible!
The son was actually named Hamnet.

Branagh's Hamlet is one of the best film Shakespeare adaptations imo
You got that right! I wish he'd do King Lear.
David Tennant!!!
Personally, Ian Glen's version of Hamlet will always be my favorite.
my fave Hamlet trivia is the skull used in the BBC 2009 version starring a brilliant David Tennant was a fan of Hamlet. he wrote in his will that his skull was to be used as Yorick's in a production. well it was used on stage and screen with David Tennant's Hamlet.

Man, the themes and characters of Shakespeare are pretty cool, but when you read it its like its another foreign language!
It's like if you gave Shakespeare a text message that said lol, ttyl, g2g, etc lol
Does anybody have any tips on how to understand the language better so that when I see the clips from movies here, they won't sound like in watching Charlie Brown

I just realised that 2 of the lion king movies are loosely based on Shakespeare the 1st one Hamlet but only the bad guy dies because it's a kids movie and the 2ed Romeo & Juliet but again only the bad guy dies because it's a kids movie
It's weird when I hear people saying my name but are talking about the play and not me. It always happened in my English classes.
You forgot to mention the Lion King guys!!
The lion king clearly took inspiration from hamlet
WHAT ABOUT LION KING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
could you do Macbeth please?
I guess Sons of Anarchy is a loose adaptation of Hamlet. Hope that doesn't spoil how it ends, if it hasn't already. Idk, never watched.
Man, I am so biased because I was Guildenstern in the hamlet that I preformed at school so I think it should have been noted at #1 that Rozencrantz and Guildenstern got to be dicks and get money for it. 😛
"Late medieval period"? Hamlet is explicitly stated to be a student of Wittenburg University, which wasn't established until the early 1500s. Hamlet most likely takes place in the early-mid Renaissance.
+WatchMojo.com You Forgot the Lion King! That's kind of an adaptation of Shake sphere's Hamlet.

the brave new world is a great idea better than tribal wars humanity should only breed the amount of people it needs for its sustaining not small fractions of it in order to dominate oder fractions thats the only way for human/nature harmony
It's a shame Mel Gibson is such a weirdo. He really is a great actor.
Simba
Benedict Cumberbatch was amazing as Hamlet. My personal favourite is David Tennant though.
The 1996 version is really good.
Shakespeare married a girl, who went by the name of Anne Hathaway and now years later there is an actress, that goes by name of Anne Hathaway. Who knew right?

how about the whole sub plot of Fortinbrass that seems to be forgotten about even by Shakespeare.
That is the moment when you're from Russia and you think that the best Hamlet film is a picture by Grigoriy Kozintsev. This wonderful work is now forgotten abroad, altho it won the first place on Shakespear festival in 60's. Sure, people in english-speaking countries may don't know russian cinematography, but i should recommend you to watch such an interesting adaptation. (Kozintsev also had wrote a book about Hamlet before he have started shooting)
Have you done Edwin Drood?
Kenneth Branagh will always be Hamlet. I hated Shakespeare until I watched this version. AMAZING.
One of my favorite bits of trivia: Patrick Stewart has played Claudius in two BBC versions, the first with Derek Jacobi (The Master) as Hamlet and the other with David Tennant (The Doctor). The Jacobi version also had Lalla Ward (Romana) as Ophelia.
There was a film of the production with Richard Burton released in 1963, I think, that was so exciting to this then- highschool freshman!
My Favourite Hamlet:Christopher Plummer. (Hamlet at Elsinore, 1964)
Kenneth is by far the greatest Hamlet
Hey they didn't even mention the best adaptation. Hamlet (2009) portrayed by the amazing David Tennant!
