Top 10 Hangover Cures That Actually Work
We have all been there. We have all had crazy nights where we drank much more than we were supposed to and it resulted in feeling absolutely miserable the next morning. While we had a great time during the actual drinking session, we pay for the good times the next morning. As college students, we have been there, or simply turning the legal drinking age and we go crazy with the alcohol consumption. Simply put, we have all been there when it comes to drinking, and we have all been there when it comes to dealing with hangovers. Hangovers are something very special as they make us vow to never drink that much ever again, or they have scared us into never getting drunk again. The health industry has made a decent amount of money from selling hangover cures that will help alleviate the effects, but none seem quite as effective as they should be. Here in this video are ten hangover cures that you can use right out of your own home.
If you have a jar of pickles hanging out in your pantry, you can actually drink the pickle juice to help ease your hangover. Pickle juice contains electrolytes which you lose after a night of drinking. Adding honey to the drink will make the drink even more effective as it will help elevate your glucose levels. Speaking of honey, making a honey sandwich will have similar effects. The bread will absorb the extra alcohol in your stomach and help you digest it easier. Plus, since you want to eat lighter anyway while dealing with a hangover, this sandwich is nice and light for easy digestion.
If you have Alka-Seltzer in your medicine cabinet, you can add it to your list of weapons in dealing with hangovers. The bicarbonate drink will help neutralize the stomach acid, which is nice and crazy from the alcohol you drank. Alka-Seltzer is especially helpful in dealing with the morning after nausea.
Take a look inside your refrigerator and see if you have some eggs. While it may seem gross, eggs are quite effective in curing hangovers thanks to a protein in eggs called albumin, which has an osmotic effect that helps rehydrate your cells after a night of drinking. Broth is also a great hangover cure. When you drink a lot of alcohol, your body is depleted of potassium and sodium when you urinate. By consuming broth with hot water, you rehydrate and replenish the lost nutrients. Consuming bananas is also a great hangover cure as it helps you replenish the potassium you’ve lost. If you take a multivitamin, taking a few after drinking will help cure a hangover as well since it’s full of lost nutrients.
Coconut water is like drinking a sports drink without the extra sugars and flavoring and has shown to be an effective hangover cure. And finally, simply drinking a lot of water is the most natural and effective cure. If you drink a lot of water before going to bed after drinking, then you’re well on your way to having a much more peaceful morning.
