The 'Argo' from Star Trek is a futuristic version of the US military's 'FAV', or 'fast action vehicle'. The FAV is a vehicle that trades off armor (has none, just like the Argo) for speed. The thing that distresses me about the Argo is that it's far too tall, and is obviously top heavy. The Argo is seen nearly rolling over while maneuvering, while 'exciting', is hardly a good trait for a tactical vehicle.

star wars was a long time ago, not the future!
Two things…. #1 Star Wars. All movies start off with " a long time ago in a galaxy far far away" so technically they have already happened. And alien I have always thought of the Alien technology as if they got faster then light space travel in the 1970s
On the other end, Back to the future 2 was spot on with the massive 80" LED 16/9 flatscreen smart TV though.
Yall should do top 10 cast members from TV shows that went inexplicably missing. Like on family matters where the little sister just wasn't there the next season and no one said anything.
but don't forget some of these scifi movies influenced today's technology: videocalling, smartphones, tablets, etc.. no one would have made these without a little imagination..
star wars is a long time ago not in the future
The SQUID is a real piece of scientific hardware. It's a highly sensitive type of magnetometer.
I would like to see longer videos, maybe posted once a week. I feel like there's not enough depth in the vids and they are getting rushed. Just my opinion though…
The wire-frame map in "Escape from New York" isn't made at all with computers. Those shining lines are actually TAPE. Look it up.
Where's the hydrator thing from bttf part 2
the hoverboard not swegway power laces
startrek laptops
Actually uh my doctor's office and healthcare service will ONLY do certain transactions using old-school fax machines. Same for my rental insurance company interacting with my apartment complex. Fax machines are still in widespread use, especially in corporate office environments.
Was that Harrison Ford in the Bladerunner clip?
"Honorable mentions"?
Strange Days was set towards the end of 1999, so MiniDiscs was the correct choice because they where still being used then.
The Pokemon anime has a Public Video Phone too. ^^
all of the effects in alien are cool
Isn't this list sort of totally missing the point? You know, that all these movies are fictional presentations of what could be and what could have been? It seems like any case where the device is 'bordering on ridiculous' is simply a result of judging the movie outside of its own terms.
3:07 COD: BO2 Tranzit???
You want outdated movie future tech? Check out The Andromeda Strain (the original, not that awful remake.) Shame to WatchMojo for missing it.
#10: I don't know much about Star Trek, but I could imagine that the buggy is designed for reconnaissence, surface transportation or EVACs rather then combat uses.
And for Star Wars and other movies that show something on a display: You always have to consider the hard- and software they had aviable at the time they produced those. Or did somebody expect them to have an Avatar like CGI animation to show back in the 70th's ?
You people are so shallow. You really can't enjoy these movies on their own terms as pieces of history without laughing at the fact that they're old? Grow up.
Not really absurd with fax machines which is still commonly used by doctors and lawyers. Legal documents still need the fax with an authorized signature. Maybe with Marty having a Japanese boss, he ends up with multiple fax machines since fax machines are still quite popular in Japan.
Well, everything else in the Star Wars universe is based on magic, so the simplicity of the Death Star plans isn't that surprising.
The computer of the Nastromo just adds to it's charm. Simple, practical and to the point. "Truckers in space.'
Star Wars wasn't set in the future you utter morons.
Anything in Freejack was pretty hilarious.
A-ha! Star Wars took place in the PAST! You're WRONG WatchMojo! (I'm jk, I love you guys)
Yea, but you can make the argument that Star Wars happened in the past.
