Description:
Motorcycles have been a part of our culture for a few centuries, believe it or not. Some of the first motorcycles were powered by steam before gasoline ever came into the picture. They evolved from bicycles and have evolved into vast and complicated pedigrees that have made motorcycles become collector’s items amongst the world. They became exceptionally popular among law enforcement and essentially helped carry World War I as important messages were transported on these motorized bikes. Soon after, Harley Davidson came into the game and became one of the biggest manufacturers in motorcycles, perfecting the art of creating the perfect bike.
Today, people often associate motorcycle riders, or “bikers” as rebels against the mainstream society. They are often perceived as people that you don’t want your daughter to bring home, or your son to run away with. But in recent years, the “bad boy” image of the biker culture has softened a bit and more and more people are riding motorcycles every day.
If you think about, motorcycles and various bikes can essentially be made out of parts that you can find in a junkyard or dump. The bike culture varies between those who want to build their own ride along with those who want to head to a warehouse and buy something that has already been made. The television show, “American Choppers” rose to rapid popularity as the world was finally exposed to the bike culture via mainstream media. The motorcycle culture has taken on an independent life of its own, with biker clubs, organizations, and families being developed in the early 1900’s. Gangs were formed around the sport and hobby of riding motorcycles, and many exist today that are just as fearsome as some of the inner city gangs.
With the popularity of motorcycles in our modern culture, car and bike manufacturers have created luxury bikes that are not only well made, but they are really expensive. These are some of the most expensive motorcycles in the world, with many of them more expensive than the homes people buy each day. For example, the Icon Sheen is priced at $160,000 at the moment. The MTT Turbine: Streetfighter is running for $175,000. The Macchia Nera: NCR Concept goes for $210,000. The Ecosse FE TI-XX: Titanium is priced at $300,000. The Yamaha Road Star Nehme IS (a custom made motorcycle) has a 24 carat gold plated frame and is only one of its kind, running at $500,000. The Vincent Black Shadow was created in 1948 and has been beautifully restored and maintained, pricing at $510,000. The Dodge Tomahawk runs at $580,000 with the ability of reaching speeds at 300 km/hour. The 1954 AJS E95 Porcupine is worth $750,000. The Harley Davidson Cosmic Starship is worth over one million dollars. And finally, the Ecosse Spirit ES1 is worth $3.6 million.
Whether you are a regular biker or someone who is just curious, there is a common consensus that these bikes are definitely on the expensive side to the point where they might not see the open road as much as a cheaper bike will.
