This story, these actors, that music, those chills…
I went to college in Boston. Woke up early on 9/11, before my girlfriend did, which was really strange for me @ that time. I partied hard most nights, I was a performer/promoter; the reason I had afternoon classes. But, woke up super early & turned on TV (also something I rarely do), just in time to see the first footage of the first plane hit. Was surreal. Thought it was movie or something. Later, one of my older brothers called me. He knew I was in Boston, he's in the Air Force. Said things were especially crazy on his end, because there was a drill scheduled that morning & it involved highjacked planes flying into the towers. So, for a good while, things were in chaos, as no one knew if this was the drill or real. Man, that still flips me out. Anyway, I got totally sidetracked. I apologize. My point was I lived in Boston, so I still had friends there when marathon bombing took place. Luckily, none of them were hurt. So happy for that. Tangentially, I heard of this dude's story & it's DEFINITELY incredible. He's a fighter. Having said that, tho, this film looks like a cheap, slightly exploitative, bid for the Academy Awards. The song, the wheelchair, the fights, the crying, the, in the air, shaking fists in victory w goofy smile on his face, that STUPID thumbs up w goofy smile on his face, etc. Not a fan of these Captain Obvious, 'inspirational' movies. We've seen this EXACT movie a million times. I bet I could I tell you the entire film, beat for beat, right now. You're, slightly, better than this Gyllenhaal.
