Boy, I am a huge fan of Cameron and think the same thing; Avatar is a good film but is not a masterpiece, in my opinion those films are T2 and Titanic.
no. avatar is/was overrated. Terminator 1&2 and True Lies were very well plotted and contain great details of nuance and inflection that make the story seem real and personally engaging. Cameron also deserves some respect for his innovations (not that Avatar's 3D did a damn thing for me). If he still had the good true human values from the earlier films and not the leftist drivel in Avatar, I would like him better. Titanic was crap too, natch.
avatar makes references to hindu mythology with the blue skin the highly respectable gods like krishna and the term avatar is when the gods and goddesses take on human form to walk on earth.
I live in Australia, starting film course next year, do you think I will ever be able to be as 'big' as Cameron?, or too much competition and I should give up?
George Lucas, Stephen Spielberg, James Cameron, Peter Jackson and David Fincher are The Most important assets of Film-making in this century. Hats off to them for bringing their dynamic and beautiful work of imaginations to us. We are looking forward for many more….
This was nice and all but I kinda wanted to hear about his upbringing and to a lesser extent, his personal life. To see what makes these visionaries who they are
not really true he took a 10 year absence in the wake of titanic, he went on discovery roads with bismark and titanic, did ghost of the abyss and started working on avatar mid 2000-2009….
While Cameron's Titanic is one of my three personal all time favorite films, the fact he using a nail gun to stick phones that go off to the wall of the sound stage creeps me out. Steven doesn't do that, Nolan doesn't do that, JJ doesn't either, or Peter Jackson, or Clint Eastwood. Reason i say this is because all the directors i just named have mastered the ability to keep a cool head. Not saying Cameron is bad here, but i aspire and look up to the ones who take the harder road.

jerking off to explosions

James Cameron is awesome, Avatar was brilliant, Titanic was brilliant and the terminator films was just amazing. I love pretty much all of his films.
He's very overrated. His work is all special effects and no real plot.

*Aliens
bad director
no just no
Arnold might be in Avatar 2
What this video showed me: that James Cameron is a demanding, short tempered egomaniac that would make Tom Cruise blush.
*Titanic*
A Legend. Enough said
I'm a huge Cameron fan but I don't consider Avatar a masterpiece altogether; love T2 and Titanic so much.
wow. this guy is almost as big and legendary as Steven Spielberg
