When it comes to addiction, most of us think of various foods, alcohol, and drugs. These are “normal” addictions despite being harmful to the body and can even cause death. But for several people around the world, they suffer from addictions that are far more bizarre than what anyone could ever dream of. When a strange addiction comes up, usually it is surrounded by some sort of tragedy or extremely stressful situation. These addictions have baffled doctors and have forced them to go back into their medical studies and perhaps revise the books to include these odd addictions. When addictions occur that include eating a foreign substance, usually it’s to satisfy a nutritional craving or need that has to be met. But when the food is worthless nutritionally, it sends people into a whirlwind of confusion as they try to answer the question of why.
For example, you have people who love to eat the foam in their couch, or the foam padding in their bra. Since there seems to be a correlation with foam, perhaps a study needs to be conducted to see the relationship between mental illness and the foam substance. Then, you have some of the odder addictions such as eating glass. This addiction is pretty harmful, especially since glass can cut up your insides. But those who do eat glass assure the rest of the world that it can be safe if done correctly.
Then we have the addiction of drinking urine, which is pretty disgusting in its own right. This is usually done as a survival tactic for people who are stranded in the wilderness, but this strange addiction has caught on like wildfire at alarming rates. Some people like Robert Wells even believe that urine has an anti-aging aspect to it. While urine is sterile, medical experts strongly discourage people from consuming the liquid. Speaking of dangerous liquids, bleach can also be highly addictive for some people. One woman finds the feeling of bleach to be incredibly addicting and comforting. Even though the chemical can break down your skin pigment, it doesn’t matter.
How much can the human body take when it comes to strange addictions? The people in this video have proven that the body can be pretty resilient against man-made chemicals and other substances that aren’t meant to enter in the human body. Poison control probably gets pretty decent business from these people who are suffering from any one of these strange addictions. Unfortunately, time will eventually tell on whether these addictions are deadly or not. All it will take is a burnt hole in the intestines, or some sort of toxic poisoning. In these cases, it will usually be too late. But hopefully these people will find help before these addictions take their life.
Not all addictions have to be consumed. In fact, there is one man who loves attending funerals to the point where all the locals expect him to attend local memorial services. However, the man has quit his job in order to feed his addiction, and his quality of life is slowly diminishing.
