How come no 1983 Adventures clips or modern Sherlocks?
HOW WAS SHERLOCK BBC NOT MENTIONED OR SHOWN?!?!?
Not many Basil Rathbone fans here, that's a shame,
This is one of my favorite Holmes stories, because a lot of it is left up to Watson to solve, so he's never quite taken as a bumbler. Plus, there is a lot of stuff to look up about rank, family, and proper conduct between people. and I honestly like the 1939 version a bit more then the 1959 (even if it does have a young Christopher Lee in it), because that Hound was REALLY scary when you saw it.
and yeah, the modern version did good too. I blame the fact it was written by a horror fan who did a lot more of the 'hint at and don't show', so when the Hound did appear, you were geared up and afraid.
Top ten Hammer films!
This was pretty well done, but you forget a major influence and that was Edgar Allan Poe's ratiocination master C. Auguste Dupin who began the tradition some 40 years before Holmes was created.
You could've also mentioned that the story has been referenced in anime series, like Black Butler.
wow i just finished the 3rd book. Thanks for the video.
How could you not even once mention BBC's Sherlock?
Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, you cant get any better.
Where's the modern 2010 Sherlock clips?
Where's the modern 2010 Sherlock Tv Shows clips?
U absolutely ignored Bbcs Sherlock
There are so many more adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. Obviously they're not going to show all of them for different reasons, hence why there's no BBC Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch…..could be some copyright laws too
Great video. Great. Any idea if Christoper Lee took notes from Conan Doyle? That dude has been around forever. What a career.
Any love out there for Poe's C. Auguste Dupin?
My favourite piece of trivia about "The Hound of the Baskervilles"- Benedict Cumberbatch.
Also, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle believed in fairies. He was a nut.
why did they not show sherlock
Wish i couldve seen some sherlock…
I feel that Pluto from Black Butler was inspired by this story
I like most about The Hound is that Watson plays a major role in the crime solving. Â Later versions depict Watson as Holmes' equal and not the clown….Very good show, what!!!
My favourite representation of Sherlock Holmes is Benedict cumberbatch's version in Sherlock
WatchMojo didn't mention that Lupin the third is loosely based of of Arsene Lupin, a thief Sherlock Holmes had encounters with. In fact Lupin the Third is that character's descendant.
No mention of Bennedict Cumberbatch's Sherlock? They did an episode of "Hound of the Baskervilles".
Not a single clip from the Jeremy Brett adaptation? Tut. And tut again good sir! (and madam).
They forgot about the reimagined version from BBC's Sherlock
I love Sherlock Holmes but i'm getting tired of "The Hound of the Baskervilles" being adapted i wish either other stories of Holmes were adapted or create new ones.
The USSR adaptation was the best.
Oh, you even didnt note it.
Good old baskervilles
We have nice dogs really
I would have liked for them to mention Jeremy Brett. He did a great job with the character.
I watched the Wishbone vision of this story.
C'Mon, the version 1959 is not the only one, but you showed this the most time in this video. What about the Brett/Hardwicke-Version? Or the new adaptation from "Sherlock" (okay, here's a bad cgi-crap-doggy, I know)?
Okay seriously….seriously. I will ignore the fact that benedict cumberbatch is the best Sherlock Holmes performance, for a second to show you that in this video he didn't even own ONE second of screen time besides the fact that BBC's "The Hounds of Baskerville" (2011) is probably the best adaptation of all shown. We all appreciate that you guys want to include older movies, TV shows etc. but don't exaggerate!Â
He is not a Secondary Character!
nobody beats Basil Rathbone
In addition to being a classic crime novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles may also be the archetype for the criminal using a family curse and ghostly figure to cover up his crimes.
This should be updated with mention of BBC'S modern take with the Sherlock episode.
In Sherlock, there was a some type of fear gas project called project H.O.U.N.D.
I thought Stapleton drowned in the grimpen mire not fall to his death.
There is one version i will never watch. That is the one in 2002. Because when i saw a scene where the hound attacks Sir Henry, it was very terrifying! :-l
