10 Places in The World You Don’t Want to Go To

Certainly, there are places around the world that you should just avoid. When it comes to personal safety, every city around the world has its problems. There is crime everywhere you go these days, and let’s face it; the morale of the world isn’t improving anytime soon. Back in the mid-20th century, one could leave their doors open and allow their children to play until the street lights went on. And that was playing outside unsupervised. But today, people hover over their children, and they still manage to get kidnapped. We’re arriving in a world where you can barely trust the police and military anymore. What has happened to our contemporary society, and is there any hope in saving it?
Take Detroit, Michigan for example. After the company General Motors and other corporations packed up and left the city, citizens were left without jobs. And without a source of income and a family to provide for, people were resorting to stealing and other illegal activities in order to make ends meet. Today, Detroit is not only one of the poorest places in the United States, but also the most dangerous with the amount of crime that takes place. St. Louis, Missouri is also another city in the USA with a high amount of crime. Since the 1960’s, crime rates have been increasing thanks to the uprising of gang activity on the East Side. Common crimes include prostitution, theft, and murder. It’s definitely a place you wouldn’t want to take a vacation at in the summer.
Around the globe, there are places that make Detroit and St. Louis seem like Disneyland. With the difference in security and laws in the government of various countries, plus the blatant corruption that takes place involving rogue war lords and other leaders of illegal activities. It seems that the all mighty cash cow can have major influence over the quality of a city, and the citizens are left behind to pay while the corruption continues to fatten their wallets. In places such as Baghdad, Iraq, people are discouraged from going there due to the high level of terrorist activity and the kidnapping of tourists for ransom money. In most scenarios, even after the kidnappers get their money, they end up executing the tourists anyway.
In Mexico, in the city of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, the drug Cartel is rampant and there is always risk of being robbed, killed, or being kidnapped for ransom. There is also a high rate of extortion that takes place. If you live in Monrovia, Liberia, especially if you’re a woman, then you’re living in constant fear of being raped, since that is one of the most common crimes in the area. The city is also known for the high rate of child kidnapping, where most of these kids end up becoming child brides, sold into slavery, or forced to become soldiers.
So, if you’re living in a first world country, and you’re complaining about how boring your life is, be grateful that you’re not living in one of the most dangerous places in the world.

  1. hahahah i knew.. this americans will always go out of their mind when they will hear the truth hahahaha get a life americans Accept the truth.. dont live in myths 🙂

  2. Hmm you put the D and st louis on there but not chicago? Seems weird given the fact that the cities murder rate in the past decade has exceeded that of American soldier death in Afghanistan making it more statistically probable for americans to die in chhicago than in the war torn middle east. On a similar note, no San Salvador where the gangs are so big and out of control they actually run their own prisons? Or Caracas, Venezuela which claims the second highest murder rate on the planet? Juarez? Syria? I dunno either a few places should have been switched or this list needs to be like 10 cities longer .

  3. ISIL hasn't taken down Baghdad yet, but that doesn't mean it's not dangerous i just liked to correct that..
I live in iraq so i know..

  4. Detroit might not be the best city in the world to live. But at least it doesn't get bombed every week like some places this list left out.

  5. Detroit is only dangerous on the West Side. east side folks (like me) are… very tame. Even the gangs are tame!

  6. You forgot Boulder Colorado. There is a 100 percent chance that a 23-year-old hipster will judge you on your taste in music.
