and 20000 leagues under the sea ?
I know we're on the Internet, aka GeekLand, but seriously folks ? "Star Trek", but no "Alien" ?
The Ten Commandments (1956) sea parting effects are still pretty spectacular IMO
Star Trek: The Motion Picture to me was nothing but a light show with no plot.
the hobbit
cool
the only thing that looked fake in the original jurassic park i think was the t-rex chase scene
Jurassic Park's effects actually look better than some of the effects used in movies today.
Not even mentioning Alien movies seems almost on purpose, it's just so absurd.
Almost all movies from 70s, 80s and 90s still look great and will in the future because they used practical effects. In a sense, we can say that CGI was a blessing and a curse.
Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Abyss, Burton's and Schumacher Batman movies, Beetlejuice, Conan the Barbarian, Indiana Jones movies, Jaws, The Fifth Element, Men in Black, Predator, Robocop, Total Recall etc.
Many of these movies are older than Jurassic Park and look better.
And Starship Troopers wasn't corny, it was a satire, just like Robocop.
where's Aliens?
Forbidden Planet. Every matte painting in that film is a beautiful work of art.
Space Odyssey should have been number one, those dinosaurs are too obviously CGI.
I thought Jurassic park wouldn't be on the list or in first but I did get why it is
Where's "Alien"? That movie came out in 79 and it still looks amazing… WTF Watchmojo?
Missing 2010…..
I feel like "Twister" should have been on the list, at least as an honorable mention.
no gremlins? no go
Regarding the Star Wars trilogy Go back and watch the original version off your DVDs. You'll realize how dated the special-effects Really were and stop complaining "Crappy digital effects". The Blu-ray special edition versions are the best version there are Mojo just doesn't like anything from their childhood altered even the slightest. Somebody call the whaaaaaaaaaaambulance.
Really, 2001 over Star Wars? That's freaking bullshit! There is not one franchise that has aged better than Star Wars!
The Abyss?
