Star Trek Discovery Season 1 episode 10 was probably the best episode so far, as the crew of Discovery crossed over into the evil mirror universe. While they haven’t encountered their evil selves, we still got to see a lot of amazing easter eggs and references to previous Star Trek episodes like Trouble with Tribbles, and The Tholian Web. Jonathan Frakes also directed this episode and there was even a reference to a character from the original Star Trek series. So join WatchMojo as we count down our picks for the best references, secrets and things you missed in “Despite Yourself”

STD is cringe.
its out!
Wow
Here I never knew that Jason Isaacs was on that show.
The Orville is awesome, frakes is great.
I don't care, the show still sucks and is not canon.
Good to no Malfoy Sr. escaped Azkaban.
You know we Scots don't all sound like Begbie and Spud fae Trainspotting. A west Atlantic lassie deciding what a Scottish accent should sound like is hilarious. From Dumfries to Shetlands there are a hundred accents along the way, Isaacs did a decent enough job of pulling off a future accent(Scotty was way worse however I presume a few hundred years of inbreeding in my country has had some effect on accents.)
The Scottish accent is spot on, I'm from The UK. Why do you say it's not? totally wrong. An American voice over commenting on a UK accent. Clueless!
Shut up Wesley.
I stopped watching Star Trek when Deep Space Nine ended. Then I heard that Scott Bakula became a starship captain in yet another iteration of Trek, I guess it was a "Quantum Leap," for him.
This is new to me.
To quote Scotty, "who would want to pilot this piece of junk."
ST:D Could have been so very much better if they set the time period AFTER ST:Nemesis, And make mike anything other than "spock's older sister sorta". But since they refused to do that, the hundreds of bad writing choices are greatly exacerbated.
Keeping the time period and Keeping Mike a Daughter of Sarek, are both possible if they walk the tight-rope, walking on egg-shells, very carefully, which they are NOT. it would require all sets, props, uniforms to be thrown out and redone in the correct time period, NO I-Phone 8 back in 1867. Then they would have to throw out 40% of their storyline as it steals from their future over and over and over.
They are insisting on all ships and gear being more advanced than all things Star Trek, even more advanced than the future parts of episodes such as "All Good Things".
While they do things first, that Kirk and Spock did for THE FIRST TIME EVER ten years later. Spock himself stated There has NEVER been a mutiny on a starfleet vessel, so they have his newly shoehorned-in sister mutiny as if spock would not be aware that not only was there one mutiny, but it was his big sister….
It really feels like they NEVER watched any Star Trek, did a search for "a list of everything that MUCH later crews would discover for the first time ever" and are using that list to populate their PREQUEL storyline.
Abomination would be my single word to describe it as a Star Trek show.
Gritty just like sandpaper toilet paper, Avoid or it will make you suffer pain and discomfort, no enjoyment.
I will never know bc I WONT PAY FOR IT!!
Them klingon nipple are brand on my head..
I at first didn’t like Discovery, but kept watching the first season and now love it.

I am Scottish and his accent is brilliant.
Yeah….it gets better each week!
1:35 you can see the actor on the bottom left trying to spot his cue for the scene, haha 😀 Great content watchmojo, keep up the great work!
Captain Lorca is totally originally from the alternate universe. It’s freaking obvious.
Great video, guys and a great, great, great (and one more), great show, too–jeez, so many critics… BTW: Isaacs' Scottish accent was pretty-darned good in my opinion (he's a native Liverpudlian… so that's close <joking for those somewhat shy in the sarcasm department> ). Anyhoo, an American judging it as poor, now there's a thing. 🙂 The original Scotty was played by a Canadian… and as much as I love that character (and Doohan himself) the accent was horrible; no, really, it was horrible. Perhaps the comparison here is between Isaacs and the original Scotty's attempt at a Scottish accent… in which case, agreed–yes, Isaacs' did a terrible job of impersonating a terrible Scottish accent–he infused it with way too much authenticity for that.PS: I LOVE THIS SHOW!
Really? You think the guy from Liverpool, using an American accent, did a bad job at a Scottish one?
