You know their singles, but do you know how much they influenced music? Join as we count down our picks for the Top 10 Underrated Rock Bands. For this list, we are looking at bands in the rock genre that may not get as much love as they deserve. While we know how much you Mojoholics love bands like Rise Against and Muse, we will be excluding them based on their large and devoted fan bases and critical and commercial success.

What about Ten Years After
I would like to see one for underrated punk bands
The Velvet Underground is number one. Sold a couple thousand albums. Never had a hit. And a reasonable argument could be made that they were ultimately the most influential band of all time.
The Yardbirds should be on here.
the dave clark five – the canadian bands the guess who & the stampeders much better than some mentioned on this list for sure – they didn't do their homework ……..
this is the last time i will ever waste my time with one of your dopey ass lists… get someone over the age of 11 to pick these bands. if you were talking top blues, country acts etc., you'd go back to the formative days of the genres and research things wouldn't you? deep purple, creedence, zz top, were never under rated. these shite bands cited on this list ie pixies, violent femmes, mud honey, etc., are RUBBISH. do yourself a favour and check out TRUELY under rated acts like wishbone ash, and FREE. what a load of crap these lists of yours are. never again…
Retards, Soundgarden is not underrated at all.
the replacement should have been on the the list.
Days of the New/Tantric.
Apparently WatchMojo's definition of "underrated" is something that is slightly less popular than another thing.
Bet no one's heard of Hawkwind before
Half of these bands were big in their day. Not their fault todays music listener's idea of music consists of computer generated noise and distorted vocals
CCR?! WHy?! How?! green river, fortunate son, proud mary aka rolling on the river were hits!
How are the classic rock bands underrated?!
Set it off? Their music IS SO FREAKING DOPE
Credence clear water revival is only #9???
Hope The Beach Boys are on here
Finally a list appreciating Kinks sufficiently! They should have been at top along with the Beatles or maybe one step below in the music history..
Zed Zed Top
April Wine was a fabulous band
11: Beatles (old unknown Band from the 60's) 12: Rolling Stones (unpopular Band with old Farts)
At the start of the video you show April Wine they are definitely an Underrated Rock Band
Blue oyster cult are the best band ever. Buck dharma forever
The Turtles
Blue Oyster was mentioned so I won't downvote. ELO was a nice touch though.
So Mudhoney was responsible for that grunge crap!
Coheed and cambria.
Don't think CCR should be here. Glad to see Deep Burble though!
Rainbow
Wow a lot of comments here are such butthurts about how these bands are not underrated. Well guess what I haven't heard most of these bands except maybe two or three and even then I know like one or two songs of theirs at most. Not everyone is a die hard rock fan who knows everything about the history of rock you know. Some are just casual listeners who just like to listen to whatever it is that sounds good. You don't have to know every nitpick detail to enjoy music. I am one of those casual listeners who just thought some of these bands sounds good but that doesn't mean I know them or how much they influence everyone. I can still enjoy them. Maybe they are underrated to some. I don't know everything and I like to consider myself as knowing more than the average person. So all of you can just shut the fuck up and just enjoy the music man. What's wrong if they're not underrated? They get the appreciation they deserved. What the fuck ar you complaining about? They can't cover every single band that YOU think is underrated. Why don't you just make your own "clickbait" videos instead of sitting here bitching about it. If you want your bands to be recognized and appreciated that bad fucking do it yourself not heckling other people videos for not following what you think. Geez
Btw I do think tears for fears and blue oyster cult is underrated
I'm not sure you can use this list designated as overrated. All these bands with a few exceptions are major players on commercial air. Now if you would have mentioned Radiohead, The Shins, Incubus, Death Cab For Cutie, Spoon, Elbow, Gomez, Amos Lee,
Rarely do I ever agree with WatchMojo's top 10, but they hit the nail on the head with The Kinks being the most underrated rock group.. Ray Davies wrote like 700 songs, and I have seen hundreds of concerts and The Kinks were definately in my top five.. I would have also put Kansas on the list, as I always thought that they were underrated also…
ELO 28 Top 40 UK hits Tom Petty rated Jeff Lynne the best all round musician he ever met
Courtney Loves, Hole?
'Bout half these bands are "underrated" for a reason.
Hello? Velvet Underground?
I wanted to see Cheap Trick on here
Dream Theater
I dont get why ELO and ZZ top are underrated, a lot of people love them, i love them… Blue oysters are in my top 5 and the kinks were to copied
Although I do agree with your #1 pick of The Kinks… I must say I am disappointed no mention of King's X, Stryper, Dream Theater, Extreme, Dokken, War, Badlands, Little River Band, Badfinger, Fishbone, Sonic Youth, Mr.Bungle, Captain Beefheart, Cheap Trick, and a few others I can't think of at the moment… thank you
This video is on very shaky grounds in argumentation. Music journalism at its worst with almost complete lack of knowledge and judgment. Very respected mainstream and indie bands there as underrated as if even professional music media has not been followed.
Triumph? Helix? Yes? Harlequin? Prism? Nazareth?
Has ANYONE even heard of these!?!?!
If not, they are amazing bands and you should check 'em out.
