No Stretch Armstrong?
lite bright pegs just ended up all over your floor in your room
Of course the noisiest game (based on my mother's opinion), came in at #10.
You forgot HO Scale Slot Cars the two biggest were AFX by Aurora Plastics and TycoPro and CurveHuggers by Tyco. Although Matchbox and Idea Toys had some. Idea Toys had some theme tracks like The Dukes of Hazzard, Night Rider and CHiPs.
My brother played with the Lite Brite. A kid I played with had the Fisher Price garage.
I actually had everyone of those toys. I even had the Death Star; spoiled little shit.
Loved Lite Brite, my favorite bath toy.
I need help. In the 70's, I had a skull that was off white and I think it lit up. Anyone remember this toy?
matchbox was a higher quality car. solid axles, hot wheels would bend at wheels.
I was born in 78, and I had a few of these from thrift shops.
Hot wheels… Even in my 20s I still love collecting them and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon:)
stretch Armstrong
Here's what was great about the View Master. I could use my imagination and pretend I was inside a "minature" movie theater. that's what wrong with toys these days, they don't allow you much imagination.
How many of you got your ass beat with a Hot-Wheel track?
always wanted lite Brite but never got it. I did have the Star Wars, Planet of the Apes, Johnny West and GI Joe figures to keep me happy. Oh yeah, and the Star Trek guns that shoot the little round discs were the best.
How did this list NOT include LEGOS ???
I used to drive my dad nuts with that Fisher Price barn. I'd open those
moo-ing doors a thousand times a day. One day, the whole thing just
disappeared. 🙁 Bad Daddy. I also ate my sister's Lite Brite pegs any time I got my hands on them. She could only play with it when I was incarcerated in my playpen or fobbed off on a patient relative for a few hours. Every family has That Child, right?
lovely!
Was that Jodie Foster?
lol I have seen the Viewmaster on a few lists of popular toys & every kid had one so I don't doubt it sold well but none of the kids actually played with them.
I think that's something the parents thought would be a nice gift but the kids would get one, click through it real fast, and toss it aside never to be played with again.
I was a big time tomboy when I was a kid & the big toys I recall being my favorite were Hotwheels & the track, Leggos, BigWheel, GI Joe & Barbie. lol I used to put Barbie in GI Joe's Jeep & the Helicopter.
My top 10 from the 70's were.
1 The Big Wheel
2. Sit
nSpin3. Merlin
4. Large plastic slinky
5. Glow in the dark Frisbee
6. Glow in the dark Duncan Yo Yo
7. Bat mobile pedal car
8. Star wars lightsaber
9. Plastic bowling pin set
10. Cap gun
GIVE me that r2d2 I want itttttttt
Some classic 70's toys got overlooked — Shogun Warriors, Matchbox, Mego superhero action figures, Tonka trucks, etc.
The theme from Lite brite is immortal. To this day I still can't get that song out of my head.
I owned 10 View Masters and a bunch of slides. Hey people, get high and play Simon ! That shit is a bug-out. And Hot Wheels?? If you didn't have any Hot Wheels or Match Box cars, YOU"RE A GIRL !
4.25 i think it was Jodie foster !!!
Mr. Potato Head !
☺☺☺☺☺☺☺
great list but no Sizzlers, SSP Racers, , Slot Cars, Micronauts , Pet Rocks, Rock Em Sock Em Robots or even a Rubiks Cube? c'mon man get with it!
The film footage seems far more dated than the toys.
star wars should be number one
SSP Smash up Derby Cars………………………………….my favorite!
A young Jodi Foster and Henry Fonda with Bobby Brady………talking about view master!…..Vincent Price was the voice of SIMON!
Hot Wheels are still very cool!
Legos? I remember playing with them in the late 70s ….
Ah they forgot MERLIN, that was released in 1978
