…..Plan 9 WTF? I can't get upset, just……WTF?
Hey, i just filmed and released a very short sci fi alien picture series. I would love for you to check it out. Please share it, we are still undiscovered and need all the support we can get.
"The Day the Earth Stood Still" was an attempt to turn us into a Communist civilization. Unfortunately after we won the Cold War, the effects of this psychological tactic was never stopped and reversed. You can see it in those who support the Democrats and especially those who think Bernie Sanders has good ideas. Venezuela, Cuba, the old Soviet Union would illustrate how stupid this all is.
It shows Hollywood loves doing remakes.
The original version of "The Thing" (The Thing from Another World) – almost scared the life out of me when I was a kid.
Bah! Any 50's sci-fi list without Devil Girl from Mars is pointless! lol
Who knows the title of the android/mutant movie playing in Desperately Seeking Susan?
I don't believe that "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" can be called a sci-fi film because there is no science in it. It's an adventure film.
Plan 9 from Outer Space should have been #1…just saying…
1. Forbidden Planet (way ahead as it is good or excellent in such a wide range of the basic qualities that make a film great, the others are more limited.)
2. The Day the Earth Stood Still
3. War of the Worlds
4. 20,000 Leagues under the Sea
4. The Thing
5. This Island Earth
6. Godzilla
7. Journey to the Center of the Earth (but perhaps is not sci-fi)
8. Invasion of the Body Snatchers
9. When Worlds Collide
10. The Fly
I know these lists are completely one's own opinion, but how could you leave out "This Island Earth"? Quite an oversight in my opinion.
Klaatu Barada Nikto! I'm actually more a fan of the newer version of The Day the Earth Stood Still and War of the Worlds. Sorry to you fans of Classic movies.
Plan 9 From Outer Space???????
How many remakes of those stories were there?
I really loved the 1953 version of WAR OF THE WORLDS…until you can see the wires that suspend the Martian war machines. One would think that those wires can be removed from the image given today's movie technology. I hate seeing the wires!
Trollenberg Terror, The Quatermass Experiment 1 & 2, This Island Earth
Remember THe TIckler? Scream! Scream like your life depends on it!
I agree with the number 1 spot
Well… I mostly agree with the list, though certainly not the order. "Forbidden Planet" should have been Number Two after the rightfully placed, "The Day The Earth Stood Still." Also, "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea" should have been dropped from the ten list and replaced with, "The Fly." Finally, "Plan 9 From Outer Space," had no business being mentioned at all. It should have been replaced on the honorable mention list by either, "I Married A Monster From Outer Space," "20,000 Leagues," or, "I Was A Teenaged Werewolf."
No Earth vs Flying Saucers???? OK
Like = life of good luck
Sub = everything you want
comment = never get grounded for life
scroll up = none of these happen
What theme was used in this movie? Can someone please help me?
My #1 favorite is War of the Worlds.
The Thing From Another World better be on this list
The Incredible Shrinking Man deserved more coverage. I know it wowed my socks off as a kid, when I watched in the early 60s
You should have had "This Island Earth" in your honorable mentions.
I enjoyed watching these at theaters, and also night TV, with many of my childhood friends. Even though I am ow 65+, I still like to watch them.
They left out so many like the campy "Tarantula" of 1954, "The Amazing Colossal Man" of 1957 & "The Wasp Woman" of 1959! And what about my favorite "The Attack of the Crab Monsters". also of 1957?
it came from outer space for me one of the best movies
"Forbidden Planet" is number Six ???!!!?!? It should be NUMBER ONE !?!?!!?!?????!!!!
