Top 10 Movie Convicts
These are the guys best known for getting taken to the slammer. Join as we count down our list of the Top 10 Movie Convicts. For this list, we’re looking at the most memorable and/or iconic fictional convicts who – whether they’re guilty or not – must be sentenced for a crime in their films. So that means we’re excluding Charles Bronson from 2008’s “Bronson”, as he is based on a real life person and not a fictional character.

My guess #1 has to be Hannibal lector
Hannibal Lecter is at 5?
I half expected Frank Morris from Escape from Alcatraz to be in the list.
We're No Angels, Humphrey Bogart.
Alex from A Clockwork Orange
Though he may not be technically a convict Gerard Butlers character from Law Abiding Citizen should be an honorable mention.
What about Blood in Blood out Miklo ?? He grew up in prison and became the leader of the prison gang?? Come on Watchmojo haha
How is Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke not #1?
Edmond Dantès? Jean Valjean? Henri Charrière? L'Homme au Masque de Fer? Billy Hayes? Richard B. Riddick? Gerry Conlon? Luke Jackson? Marquis de Sade? Nelson Mandela? Too busy strategising a top spot for Star Wars on your next list to remember these?
why, oh why, renee? why did renee zellwegger have to fuck up her face? i honestly believe that she'll never get another movie role ever again. plastic surgery is a bitch.
Once again,WatchMojo can't think beyond the 1980's.James Cagney "White Heat"1949,Neville Brand"Riot in Cell Block 11"1954,and or course Paul Newman and George Kennedy"Cool Hand Luke"1972.Also,the 1962 version of "Cap Fear",was better.
Cyrus the Virus is more deserving of a spot than Nicolas Cage's character.
What about Jean Valjean?
Kimble over Dufresne? No way!
I call Bullshit on John Coffey not being #1. He was wrongfully imprisoned because he looks like the type who would and he died for something he didn't do.
Out of curiousity, why didn't Gerard Butler's character from Law Abiding Citizen at least an honorable mention?
Y'alls description of the movie sucks. They didn't go all around the country on O Brother, Where Art Thou? you never even know if the leave the state, and they certainly never leave the south!! On The Green Mile you said it was packed with memorable convicts, there are literally three on the green mile during the movie! Have you even seen these movies!!!!
CAGE
No Cool Hand Luke? Seriously one of the BEST convict movies ever!
i thought convicts based on reallife charicters were out so sam shepard from the fugitive should of been out to
Snake From Escape From New York .He was Convict in the first part of the move .He should be No 1 .
Top 10 Escape Moves would be cool next to the convicts .
YOU FORGOT RICHERD B RIDDICK
No Mickey Knox GTFO of here
I kinda wanted to see Gerard Butler's character from Law Abiding Citizen.
You said that the character has to be charged with a crime, then use John Mason who you specify say imprisoned without charge! Get your shit together Watchmojo!
Here is a list for another top 10 movie convicts :
#10 Frank miller from "High noon"
#9 James Cole from "12 monkeys"
#8 Victor Franko from "Dirty dozen"
#7 Guido from "Life is beautiful"
#6 Noodles from "Once upon a time in America"
#5 Cheyenne from " Once upon a time in the west"
#4 J J Sefton from "Stalag 17"
#3 Papillon from "Papillon"
#2 Virgil Hilts from "Great escape"
#1 Luke from "Cool hand Luke"
Also, I dont know if Verbal Kint counts as a convict, but if he does he should definitely be among top 10…
The protagonists in Clockwork Orange and Dancer in the Dark come to mind for potential nominees.
Any one of you Homestuckers out there scream CON AIR
where is miklo from blood in blood out
COOL HAND LUKE ? how is he not number one
Where is Cool Hand Luke??!!
Jack Conrad, played by Steve Austin, in the movie "The Condemned"
Awww man, Con Air is such a guilty pleasure.
Just got caught up on Homestuck, sees con air.
I thought Paul Newman in cool hand luke would have been on the list. Steve Mcqueen in the great escape although a POW is probably not classified as a convict. Michael Caine was a released convict in The Italian Job.
WHAT!? No Nasty Nate from "Half Baked"?!?
I was going to mention Richard B Riddick, but as we never actually see him in prison. We only know that he escaped multiple prisons before Pitch Black
what about jean valjean from les mis?
WWWWHHHHAAATT? Cool Hand Luke doesn't even get honorable mention. He would be my number one
Sirius Black only got an honorable mention?! He deserved his own spot. You can't be "sirius"!
Not even an honourable mention for Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence (Life) ??!!?
