I just remembered that Saruman is also Count Dooku
Everything is different on film and the book duh! Your imagination seems limited mojo
Very good cut scenes, well done
nop, 5th hobbit is a lie!
missing the Glorfindel in movie is unforgivable!
Nice.
but I loved the battle of Bywater. one of the best parts of the entire book [as in the non split into 3 different books, book]
I am a HUGE LOTR fan, and tbh this is one of the few times where the movie has done better than the books. True that books gave birth to the whole universe but the movies made it much better by adding drama to some places and keeping it flowing from beginning to end 🙂
4:34 Lets face it, they just needed a strong-independent woman to satisfy all feminazis all around the world. There is just one female character mentioned in the whole novel. Its same with these asian people in the Hobbit trilogy – never happened.
the story Faramir & Eowyn is too little in the movie…
I agree the Northern Theatre thing is a bit disappointing not to involve-however in the Return of the King, Gimili and Legolas mention how 'war has marched on these lands'
Don’t worry, the scene at the bridge of Khazad-dum Makes up for 90 And the other 10% is made up by the ride of the nine as they are chasing down Frodo on the white horse.
Why can't she jsut be a love interest PC dipshit?
Saruman cant die. Hes Curunir, one of the maiar spirits. He just lost his physical form, but he did not die.
i love LOTR!!! over hobbit all day everyday
story of lotr is very good, but its not so in details, could be much more better
as movie itself and scenario they made, movie is not so great
the things which made lotr so popular and interesting movie are actors, just fantastic choice of actors
One of the biggest things the movies got wrong was the scene between Gandalf and the Witch King. In the movie, they make it seem like the Witch King is more powerful than Gandalf. In the book, that scene is significantly different.
… for a quick ride to gondor
These movies are the greatest movies ever produced. Epic, awesome and untouchable.
Saruman's white tower is nothing like as described, Tom Bombadil, Goldberry, the barrow wights chapters. Dozens of songs missing and anything light or musical is almost completely GONE. Peter Jackson completely MURDERED Lord Of The Rings IMO. Lord Of The Rings is not really about fighting. It is about the struggle between the forces of Light and Darkness, unfortunately in the film it is ALL DARK…as for Jacksons statement that Tom Bombadil does 'nothing to advance the story' is f?&*ing insane, more like does nothing that involves blood, guts and orc blood…he is essentially one of the most IMPORTANT characters in Fellowship and all of Middle Earth. Tolkien would be utterly disgusted at the treatment of his trilogy by this splatter movie specialist.
Do not trust mojo watch cinefix! That's where mojo got this video idea and list from!!!
in the books, glorfindel is on the opposite side of the river as frodo. elrond summons the flood, gandalf adds the horses to the waves.
That word is "corpOReal" not "corpEReal"… 1:20
Sam is the true hero of the lord of the rings. As he is the only person who isn't tempted by the ring.
Well that whole thing with Tom was a bit silly. So it would be oquard in a PG13 film. Meh maybe Peat didn't want to even try. Cause the Gulum seen in The Hobbit where Bilbo finds the wring at some points was kinda silly. But yet he pulled it off.
1. Arwen is terrible on screen.
2. Faramir was easily the worst change. The ring pretty much has no effect on him. But in the movie he is a big douchebag.
boljer, not bolgur
5:29 Is that a durian in the background?
Another point is how weak they made Gandalf and the other wizards seem. Gandalf and the other wizards are originally of the same beings that Sauron and the Balrogs were. They all should realistically have the same powers; however, gandalf and the other wizards are bound by their code that they will not use their powers to interfere with the conflicts of middle earth, they may only 'influence'. When Saruman defies this, his powers become stripped down and eventually lost. This is why it was odd when they made Gandalf seem so weak compared to The Witch King. Gandalf actually trumps the Witch King by Far.
Also, their powers are over exaggerated, Sauron isnt all might and all powerful either, hes just a slightly stronger being than the rest. Elrond is actually a relative of Sauron. Saurons power was literally his ring, and literally the rings motto… "One ring to Rule them All" is actually literal. The rings are rings of possession, not actual power. They corrupt the minds of the bearers and made them loyal to Sauron, and allow Sauron to spread his influence across the land. Hence the opening scene of him gifting rings to the kings of middle earth, and in secret forging a "Master Ring" to control them all. Its not a power-up ring, its a control ring.
One big big big difference between the book and the movie is that in the book there is no introduction that explain all the situation. You discover the background and the story of the past at same time of the hero. This introduction is killing the 'mystery'. Also when you read the book the story at the beginning seems like something naïf then become more and more adult.
Jackson did an amazing job with the 3 films and I understand most changes were for cinematic reasons but the one that REALLY sticks out at me is how they had Gandalf afraid of the Witch King. That was laughable, even more so when the Witch King somehow breaks Gandalfs staff! Are you kidding me?!!? Gandalf was MEANT to destroy the WK, hence why Sauron used Denethor to distract him from that goal, Saurons fingers reached far….
uhm.. Frodo and Sam going to Osgiliath was a pretty big change…
thank god tom bombadil wasnt in the movie
They forgot how the ring was destroyed.
Arwen didn't seem to have a large role in the book. Wonder why Jackson cast her as the hero in some scenes
The difference? What is the similarity? The movies follow the same plot as the books but has none of their poetry and atmosphere. Hollywood totally ruined it. Perhaps this type of literature is best left alone. At least I've yet to see a decent rendering.
Faramir is very different in the movies.
Where is Radagast?
Tom Bombadil should be in the movies as he was the one who safely led them to Bree…I really enjoyed this part when I was reading the books as a kid
What I noticed reading the book is that the majority of Sauron's army in the war is composed by men (Haradrim, Esterlings) and not ogres.
Yeah Tom Bombadil is in essence god in physical form
And what about the battle of the Pelennor and the army of deads?
so i watched the movies first and upon reading the helms deep portion i was expecting the elves to come in and was sort of disappointed it wasnt there.
3:45 forgot about Haldir and his company of elven bowmen?
I have avoided watching WatchMojo videos for years because of how stupid these lists always are. How about the differences that actually affected the plot and characters? Like the complete rewriting of Faramir? Or the indecisiveness of the ents? And if you're going to mention Helm's Deep as a big change, why not just throw a sentence in there about the death of Haldir, a character that wasn't even present at the battle in the books being killed off for dramatic effect in the movie? This is why Two Towers is borderline unwatchable for me. Too many massive changes that are unforgivable. Which sucks because Fellowship might be my favorite movie of all time.
