A short book turned into a long film, I'm guessing you hated the Hobbit franchise? This movie was pretty good. The title to this makes it seem like it was a flop in the theaters and somehow was the worst thing of 2017.
Also, I'm guessing you missed when they said the French don't pronounce the H. Kenneth Branagh is Irish and managed to get it right.
They screwed up the mustaches. Poirot would rather die than be seen with that monstrosity on his face! It looks like a small furry animal.
Your review is your perspective and opinion of the movie not a fact.
Volume on this video sucks
Pwa-row. How hard is that?!?!?!?!?!?
sorry, but i think most his reasons, are true to life, no one person is going to be great or do horrible, succeed etc. Some of his problems are stupid
This is the type of “very good “ very talented “ then going all the way trashing everything review !
Short story : it’s an awesome movie guys, especially if you like Agatha Christie’s books and detective style shows and movies
Obviously you never read the book, or you would know its a long novel, not 70 pages. Obviously have never seen any Christie movies, or you would know how to pronounce the protagonist's name. Why exactly should we be listening to your opinion on this story-brought-to-screen??
Remember what ive always said.
Thanks to Disney people dont want to see movies that require INTELLIGENCE,
They want jokes and one liners now.
thanks Disney
Pwa-Row
Is there any way to dislike a video more than once?
Because I know the end, so its not interesting anymore, will watch on dvd, its something about detective stuffs if everyone knows the end then its no fun, dont remake
Hercule Pew-Here
Where the hell is Rebecca?
Movie was great. Screw you.
i actually really enjoyed this movie
Honestly I do agree with him, and as someone who loves both movies and Agatha Christie. It seemed too rushed, too unimaginative. Yeah it's book to film so it's a bit weird to try to make that conversion, but the tools are right there, such as the train being a character, more realistic shots, shots that actually make sense and have a narrative purpose, framing and editing and motifs. It seemed very hodgepodge and thrown together last minute really with some very awkward scenes, narration, and sound staging. Nothing seemed to have any purpose or rhyme or reason, just…it was real fancy looking?? But I really did like the framing of Poirot's attention to detail as both a blessing and a curse, quite reminiscent of my friends who have conditions such as ASD and OCD and really just setting his "magical" ability to find clues and observe things in the real world with real repercussions rather than having him be this magical sleuthing wizard man, and it really brought something nice into the narration and story-telling.
And also guys, it's a MOVIE. Doesn't matter if the guy read the book or not, a fine book to movie adaptation SHOULD be enjoyable whether or not you read the book beforehand. One shouldn't need to do HOMEWORK to go out and enjoy a film–a film should be standalone GOOD. Even if the source material is AMAZING, the movie can still be kinda crappy, this is an example of such. Murder on the Orient Express is a fine read, sort of a crappy movie though…
I do not know what version of the novel you read, but the original is 265 pages and not the 70 mentioned. I know some children's versions abridge the text. I have my copy and checked.
Because it's been done many times
Went yesterday to this movie i loved it.
Equipment hypothesis founder coverage Indian sponsor ranch print hopefully place.
Please if you want to watch movies now days just judge your self ignore critics this movie was amazing !!!!
there was an ad for the movie before I watched this awful review of the movie lol
It will suck because idiot Johnny Depp is starred in.
It's a Hercule Poirot novel. Of course Poirot is gonna appear in a lot of scenes.
The only problem I have is Poirot's mustache. It's to bushy
my favourite was the david sushet version
You guys.. this movie was unacceptable with the cast it had.. no wonder why shitty marvel movies are taking over
This might be my first comment on a video after having this account for over ten years, but I feel I need to speak up.
I loved this film for so many reasons, many of which were the things you pointed out as flaws.
Poirot is a vain character, and if you had more exposure to him, you’d understand that that is why Branagh gave so much screen time to Poirot/himself.
When your locations are not visually the same as they were in the early 1930s, or it would be too dangerous/costly to use a dead of winter mountain range, you gotta use CGI.
The characters are supposed to be disconnected, because they have to maintain their stories in order to try to throw off the investigation.
The film takes place on a train. Every shot after Istanbul is on or near that train. Without the train, there would be no setting for such suspense. The train was always a “character” in the film.
The only person that “phoned it in” was you. You love movies, and you know a few trivia facts, but I get the feeling you haven’t given yourself much of a chance to “experience” movies. This adaptation was classic storytelling, extremely faithful to the book, with a couple of dashes of creative license to make it even better. What’s more, this is very much a Branagh film, much the way you can spot a Kubrick. Some directors just have a style the works, but there will always be that one person (you) that doesn’t “get it”.
I’m not upset or angry towards you, but I will say I am a little disappointed that you didn’t do a little research first. That would’ve given you a lot of much needed context, and for many viewers, context is key to appreciation.
Another remake. How original. Hollywood is these days. What genius came up with this idea
great review. the movie flopped, too.
